DIFFERENT TYPES OF PACKAGES

Database Packages

Microsoft Access – Microsoft Access is a database package that can let you do various important things within the office, it lets you produce projects of different sorts such as a marketing project where you can store and see sales etc within e.g. a school or business.
You can use it for schools as you can use it for students for work or even a register.

Uses
Access tables support a variety of standard field types, indices, and referential integrity. Access also includes a query interface, forms to display and enter data, and reports for printing. The underlying Jet database, which contains these objects, is multiuser-aware and handles record-locking and referential integrity including cascading updates and deletes.
There are template databases within the program and for download from their website. These options are available upon starting Access and allow users to enhance a database with predefined tables, queries, forms, reports, and macros.
(The costs of the packages are £99.99 for the 2007 edition and £90.99 for the 2010 edition)

Oracle - Oracle is a powerful relational database management system that offers a large feature set. Along with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle is widely regarded as one of the two most popular full-featured database systems on the market today.

Storage
The Oracle RDBMS stores data logically in the form of table spaces and physically in the form of data files. Table spaces can contain various types of memory segments, such as Data Segments, Index Segments, etc. Segments in turn comprise one or more extents.
Extents comprise groups of contiguous data blocks. Data blocks form the basic units of data storage. Newer versions of the database can also include a partitioning feature this allows the partitioning of tables based on different set of keys. Specific partitions can then be easily added or dropped to help manage large data sets.
(The cost of the package is £140.09)

The package I would recommend would be Microsoft Access as it offers you more and it costs less.

You could use it for work as you can work out sales, quantity of items and profit etc as you can use different formulas and functions such as, (SUM, MIN, MAX, and AVERAGE).
